SIMON YOUNG, of Derby Road, Kingsbridge, writes:

My family would like to thank everyone concerned with the organisation of the Bigbury Fun Run.

We usually ‘run’ as a family and add to our fun by dressing up. The weather was refreshing, with a light breeze, but we still needed and enjoyed the drinks supplied at intervals by the event marshals.

Unfortunately the afternoon was greatly spoilt by the fact that we missed out on the expected drinks on the green at Bigbury village, as these marshals, with the much-needed and longed-for drinks, had packed up and gone home.

It is very hard to explain to youngsters that not everyone can be trusted to carry out their job properly. Surely the people who were designated as marshals at this point of the run should stay at their posts until the last ‘stragglers’ have gone through, as they are usually the ones, often being elderly or accompanying children, who need the nourishment most.
