A MAN and his dog have been reunited after a night of searching by Kingsbridge residents.
The man, who is often seen in the Kingsbridge and Dartmouth area is thought to have been sleeping rough, was spotted on Monday night looking distressed and searching for his dog in Kingsbridge.
There have been reports that he, named locally as Jamie, is ex-military and suffers from PTSD, but we have been unable to confirm that. He is often seen with his black dog Cawley.
People spent last night looking for the dog, driving extra laps of the town on the way home from work, and generally keeping an eye out for her.
As far as we can ascertain, he was taken in by a family last night, out of the bad weather, an argument broke out within the family, and the dog ran away due to the shouting. A man at the address was arrested for assaulting his mother who is currently in Derriford Hospital.
There were reports that the dog had been injured or stabbed, but this doesn’t appear to be the case.
A local woman spotted Jamie this morning and spoke to him. He has been reunited with his dog and looked ‘clean and smart’.
