Loddiswell Fun Day was a success over the weekend, with the football and tennis clubs coming together with the primary and preschool.
The Fun Day saw a football match played between the Loddiswell Athletic Football Club and the ‘Loddiswell Legends’, football and tennis skills sessions for the youngsters, along with the usual refreshments and a raffle.
The football match went to penalties after a 6-6 scoreline, with the eventual winners being Loddiswell Athletic Football Club.
Edd Roberts, manager of Loddiswell Athletic Football Club and event organiser, said: “We raised about £700, which is brilliant for us. All the other guys did really well too. I think everyone had a really good time and there was a lot of people there all day.”
Nikki Beer, Loddiswell Preschool, said: “We provided teas, coffees and cake from 12-4pm. We had a nice steady flow of custom throughout the afternoon, and took turns in regularly popping out to check the score of the football match!!
“Thanks to the parents’ kind donations of cakes we raised £150 to put towards new play equipment for the children.
“Edd Roberts did an excellent job organising the day, we all really enjoyed it. Our preschool leader Sarah Fletcher went away very happy with two lovely raffle prizes from Salcombe Gin and Sophie Stockwell-Weeks mobile tanning!!”
Olivia Prowse, Loddiswell Primary PTFA, said: “It was a lovely day, even if it started out a bit damp! It had a good community feel, which I hope raised the profile of our village football team. The PTFA sold bacon butties in the morning with teas and posh coffees, and changed to hot dogs in the afternoon with strawberries and cream. We raised £180!”
Pat Parfitt, Loddiswell Tennis Club, said: “The Tennis Club is in its first season so for us the day was all about attracting new members, rather than fundraising.
“We had an excellent day in which we laid on fun activities for the little kids and a Prize Ball Machine Challenge for the older ones, which all went really well. We attracted a lot of interest and picked up a number of new members, so for us, a very worthwhile day.”
Everyone praised Edd’s organisation of the day, maybe it will be the first of an annual event?
