A local doctor and his friend are running the 125 mile length of Devon to raise money for South Hams Area Wellbeing.

Founding director Dr James Mottram and his friend Will Turner will be running the length of Devon in an attempt to raise £10,000 to support South Hams Area Wellbeing - SHAW - over two days next weekend, Friday and Saturday, May 18 and 19.

SHAW is a not for profit organisation which aims to help enable and educate local individuals to be resilient in their own wellbeing. It is all about connecting local people of all generations with each other and with organisations, practitioners and agencies that can support and facilitate that resilience with the main aims of improving lifestyle, knowledge, happiness and health.

All of the team at SHAW are extremely optimistic about the potential of our new and exciting enterprise, in particular founding director Dr James Mottram, who recognises the benefits of social interaction and social interventions in his day job as a local GP at Norton Brook, Kingsbridge.

James is so committed to this cause he is willing to put himself through a bit of pain and suffering to raise the profile of SHAW, and has roped in good friend Will to trail running 125 miles over 48 hours from the northern to southern most point in Devon starting on Friday, May 18.

Dr Mottram said: “Any support for the two of us in order to help SHAW get it’s social enterprise off the ground would be most appreciated.”
