The gold winning Kingsbridge In Bloom volunteers are about to start the main summer planting in the town.

Described as the “most challenging and ambitious campaign for many years”, the Kingsbridge In Bloom volunteers are working to keep their Gold status and compete in the national and regional Britain In Bloom competitions.

Graham Price, KIB chairman, said: “Our aim is to retain our RHS Gold status for Kingsbridge. We will be assessed by the RHS judges for the Regional and National finals in July and August respectively.

“We are urgently looking for our community to help us keep our displays looking at their best by helping with the watering.

“Unlike many towns and cities in the Britain in Bloom competition we keep our costs down by watering ourselves. If you or any family members can help give a hand we would really appreciate it.”
