Kingsbridge Estuary Rotary has launched a new grant scheme, following the success of the £250 monthly grant which ends at the end of the month (Friday, August 31).

The new grant will be paid out every three months to the value of between £500 and £750, depending on the need of the applicant.

Applications can be made by schools, clubs or organisations for particular projects, new or replacement equipment, training, or for a special event. These will be for the benefit of children, teenagers, adults, the elderly and those with particular needs.

Applicants may be asked to present their proposals in person to a panel of rotarians.

As a result of generous donations from the local community, Kingsbridge Estuary Rotary has been able to make 25 monthly grants to a total value of £6,250 in recent years.

The grants went locally to: nine sports and recreation clubs, five primary schools, five organisations providing special needs, three scouts/guides clubs, two to a senior school and one village hall.

The grants helped to provide sports and recreational equipment/facilities, training/staff support and much more.

A spokesman for Kingsbridge Estuary Rotary said: “We are most grateful for the donations received, and delighted that we have been able to help such a wide range of groups.”

Grant applications are now welcomed and the closing date for the first round is Tuesday, October 31.

Applications can be made on the club’s website www.estuaryrotary.org.uk by completing and submitting the application form.

Applications will be judged in November, with the winner to be announced in early December.
