THE Quay was awash with car enthusiasts on Monday as Kingsbridge Classic Car Rally came back to town.

Classic minis, lotuses, BMWs, jaguars, fords and many others gathered on the Town Square near the bandstand and spilled out into the car park when at least 80 cars turned up to be a part of the annual event on Bank Holiday Monday, May 30.

Samantha Short, manager of the Kingsbridge Information Centre and an organiser of the event said: ‘Over 80 cars registered and I think around 100 were on display, there were tons of people on the square and in the town. We had a great day in the Information Centre and all the shops on Fore Street had a really great trade.

‘The sun shone, as it has for the last four years, luckily, and this year Buckland Tout-Saints Hotel ran the Kid’s Area with free face-painting and modelling cars out of old toilet roll tubes and other recyclable materials. It made a really nice addition to the event.’
