It is with reluctant interest that I decided to enter the great wind turbine debate. It's fair to say if the big decisions were left to me, we'd still be living in caves and throwing boulders at things.

Your letters page last week got me thinking about how people reacted to pylons when they first landed? If the lights did go out and we were being held to ransom, I am certain wind farms would be welcomed up and down the country with open arms.

My closing point is perhaps the least helpful, but maybe kills two birds with one blade.

If a turbine was assembled in our beloved district, maybe it could be fitted with adequate sound proofing and sold off as affordable apartments boasting outstanding views to the rear and a free communal spin drier.

I'll get my coat!
