A Jaguar XF has become the latest victim of the Aveton Gifford tidal road.
The car was abandoned in the middle of the first section of the tidal road, after being driven into the estuary on Monday, July 10, during the evening high tide. Photos were sent in by a passing resident.
Having got myself into this situation before, I can personally empathise with the driver, although my car was not worth anywhere near as much as this Jaguar. I will share the advice I was given from our local fire brigade at the time: “The tidal road at Aveton Gifford allows drivers to pass along the beautiful River Avon, when the tide is out.
“Our colleagues in Kingsbridge Police have this evening issued a timely reminder that cars aren’t boats. Advice that we would support. Oh, and look, there are signs too.”
