TOMMY FOSSUM, of Norway, writes:

I am a journalist and an author searching for information about Edward Ethelbert Lort Phillips, who lived and died in Dartmouth in 1943 or 1944.

He was a major around 1910-11 and a respected businessman.

He built a lot of very interesting holiday homes for rich Englishmen 100 years ago in the area in Norway where I live.

Would any readers have any information about him, or any idea whom I can contact for further information?

I am in general interested in information about all the rich Englishmen – some called ’salamonlords’ in Norway – who travelled in the summer to many of the rivers in the valleys of Norway.

Some of them invested a lot of money in their communities.

Lort Phillips built five exclusive holiday homes, most of which are still running.

Are there any books written around this theme in the UK?
