PLANS for a waste incinerator on the outskirts Ivybridge will go on show next week.
The draft plans will be on display at a public consultation hosted by the Environment Agency.
Residents are being encouraged to go along and to put forward their thoughts on waste management company Viridor's plans to build an energy from waste facility.
The plant will include a 275,000 tonne a year incinerator and 970,000 tonne landfill at New England Quarry, Lee Mill.
The consultation is taking place at Ivybridge Watermark from Thursday, October 4, and Friday, October 12, although the only drop-in day to see the plans and speak to Environment Agency experts will be on Thursday.
Earlier this month the Eagency published a draft environmental permit for the proposed incinerator.
This angered many, including local campaign group EcoIvy, which said it felt 'betrayed' by the Environment Agency.
People will now have the opportunity to speak to agency staff as part of the consultation on a draft environmental permit for the proposed incinerator.
Agency specialists will be available on Thursday from 12.30pm to 8pm to talk about the draft decision and help people respond to the consultation, as well as answer questions.
Group question and answer sessions with a permitting officer will take place at 3pm, 3.45pm, 4.30pm, 5.15pm, 6pm, 6.45pm and 7.30pm.
These sessions can be booked in advance by emailing SWEFW. enquiries@environ ment-agency.gov.uk or calling 03708 506 506 and leaving contact details and a preferred time.
Responses to the consultation must be made in writing to the Environment Agency, Permitting Support Centre, Environment Permit Team, Quadrant 2, 99 Parkway Avenue, Sheffield S9 4WF or via email to psc@environ ment-agency.gov.uk, quoting reference EPR/LP3936KF.
