The Met Office has given a yellow warning for ice for tonight and tomorrow morning.
With the wet weather we have received today and temperatures expected to plummet below freezing tonight, there will be a high chance of ice tomorrow morning.
The Met Office’s Chief Forecaster’s assessment on their website states: ’A frontal system will produce a good deal of rain through Wednesday afternoon and evening.
’Surfaces will remain wet into the night, such that as the temperature falls below freezing, ice is likely to form on untreated roads and pavements.
’Upland areas in the north and west of the Warning area are at risk during Wednesday evening with other areas at increasing risk later in the night and at first on Thursday morning.’
Remember to clear all ice from your windscreen before driving your car, and drive slowly and with a large gap between you and the vehicle in front - stopping distances on ice are 10x that of normal driving conditions. Keep safe.
