ROGER CHILCOTT, Dartmouth Town Council, writes:
The standards sub-committee of South Hams Council has found that I was cleared of any wrong doing, and that in the allegations of bullying and other related matters, the evidence submitted against me did not support these allegations, and that the draft minutes did not reflect any breach of the code of conduct.
This gives me no great satisfaction as it should never have gone as far as it did.
I regret these disagreements were not sorted out in private between mature adults and make an unreserved apology to the people of the town who were subjected to the embarrassment of seeing them aired in public.
I have learnt my lesson and will certainly make every effort in future to ensure that such an event will not happen again.
Unfortunately Cllr David Cawley seems to believe that he is the people's hero, which leads him to make regular complaints to the district council about his fellow councillors.
However, he seems oblivious of the fact that all it ever does is to smear the name of both the individual and the town council, whenever he acts in such a manner.
I call upon Cllr Cawley to have the humility to make a similar apology to the town's residents, and to consider making every effort to work with his fellow councillors, to ensure a sustainable and viable future for the town's community and economy.
