GALMPTON residents Bridget Edwards and Paddy Daly became joint winners of the Call My Antiques Bluff in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.

The event, held at Thurlestone Parish Hall, was organised by the Kingsbridge and Salcombe Fundraising Committee of Macmillan Cancer Support who teamed up with fine art auctioneers, Bearnes, Hampton and Littlewood to host the antiques quiz evening, which raised £662.

Bridget and Paddy managed to get seven out of ten answers correct and became the joint winners of the antique quiz evening.

Daniel Goddard from Bearnes, Hampton and Littlewood, together with his two expert colleagues, Chris Hampton and Martin McIlory, came armed with ten antiques and works of art. They took turns to try and eloquently persuade the 60 people in the hall that they were telling the truth about each of the items.

Bridget and Paddy showed off their antiques detective skills and had the highest score by working out who was correct and who was bluffing and each received a prize of a bottle of wine.

Julie Thompson of the Kingsbridge and Salcombe Fundraising Committee said: ‘It was a fun, light-hearted evening and we are so grateful to those who came along and supported us, together with a splendid pasty supper from Frogmore Bakery.

‘Dan Goddard and his colleagues were immensely entertaining and knowledgeable and we appreciate them giving up their time to help us. We have raised £662 which will go to continue helping people fight cancer.’

Daniel Goddard from Bearnes, Hampton and Littlewood said: ‘We are proud to support Macmillan and all the good work the charity does and we are delighted that so much money was raised on the evening. In addition to the prize of wine, the jar of marmite added a quirky taste to the evening.’
