Barbara Chapman, of Barnfield Walk, Kingsbridge, writes:
With reference to the request for holiday homes to be offered to refugees, the majority of the so called refugees are actually economic migrants, young men not necessary Syrian, but from Pakistan, African etc.
If as they claim they are fleeing for their lives, why have they left women, children and the elderly behind.
None of the other Arab states will take them, stating ‘we do not want ISIS infiltrators entering our country’ and warning that they have information that one in 50 of those entering Europe are ISIS members.
If those who are now campaigning for us to open our homes are genuinely concerned about the homeless, why have they not offered help to the thousands of British homeless. Over 6,500 people sleep rough on the streets of London alone.
They come from every walk of life. According to charities one in 10 of all the country’s homeless are ex-servicemen.
They have warned that the problem of homelessness among former soldiers, sailors and airmen is a ticking timebomb which will only get worse if urgent action isn’t taken.
Then we have thousands of European migrants coming to UK and living on the streets.
The Government apparently is so short of cash it recently stopped disability payments to thousands of sick and disabled and shortly after this at least 2,600 of those who had been forced back to work died. Yet they find money for foreigners – taxpayers’ money of course.
More and more people are coming into the UK and the Government in their wisdom have dramatically cut the police budget, so we must now seriously consider how safe our own country is.
