Gordon Anderson, of the Dartmouth Barnabas Trust, writes:
Heartfelt thanks are due to all those donors and volunteers associated with and involved in the Dartmouth Community Chest Christmas lunch, hosted in the Market Square Community Cafe on Christmas Day.
Free food was provided by Lidl, Sainsbury’s, Jilly’s Farm Shop and Mark Lobb. Outlets in Dartmouth such as the Market Cafe, Bayard’s Cove Bookshop and the town council offices sold vouchers for free meals, while the ‘neighbours’ of Dittisham financed the cost of non-perishable goods, small presents and meals for residents of St Barnabas.
The Christmas lunch was cooked superbly by volunteer chefs, who provided a lovely traditional feast for more than 25 guests. Any spare meals were plated up for home deliveries and takeaways.
Any further perishable food was given to local farmers to feed their livestock, thus avoiding any unnecessary waste.
Please forgive me if I have unintentionally forgotten to mention any other contributors, and may you all enjoy a healthy and prosperous new year.
