Around 150 people were queuing in the autumnal sunshine to receive their COVID jabs in Kingsbridge.

The queuing began well before the pop-up facility on the town square opened at 11am.

It was a wasted journey for some who were told only 96 jabs were available.

Two nurses were administering the jabs, Some people were given a ticket and asked to come back later while people further back in the queue were told there were now no more vaccines left.

Mike said: “People don't want to go to Exeter or Plymouth to get vaccinated”

Sheila said: “No-one wants to drive miles to get the jab.” She added “It’s very important. We must do it.”

Health Secretary Sajid Javid has warned that cases could rise to 100,000 but there are currently no plans for another lockdown in England.
