EAST Allington now has a defibrillator and the Fortescue Arms are running a first aid course in the village to teach vital life-saving skills.

Fundraising by the local community, as well as a donation by South Hams Councillor Rufus Gilbert from his locality budget, has meant that the village now has a life saving defibrillator on the external wall of the parish hall.

The Fortescue Arms in East Allington has been donating the proceeds from their weekly Quiz Night to the defibrillator fund since Christmas and held a raffle where local resident Malcolm Shire-Jones donated a replica model of a Aston Martin DB5, which added greatly to the total raised.

The Fortescue Arms are also funding first aid training at the pub on Thursday, June 9, with a daytime session at 10am-1.30pm and an evening session from 6.30pm-10pm in order for everyone to be able to make it.
