People in the South Hams are being offered the chance to win a luxury hamper if they complete a survey aimed at helping the council improve its services.

The 'getting to know you survey' will help the council understand the needs of local people and how services can be tailored to meet those needs in the future.

The survey also gives people the chance to comment on what particularly interests them in their local community.

Everyone who completes the survey will be entered into a prize draw to win a luxury hamper worth up to £50. The hamper includes fair trade, locally-sourced goodies such as jam, chutney and biscuits.

Leader of the council, Cllr John Tucker, said: 'This is a chance for people in the South Hams to make a difference and let their voice carry right to the heart of local government. By telling us exactly what you need and want from your council, we can do more to make local services suitable and relevant for the changing needs of the district.'

The council's community cngagement officer, Dotty Allan said:'The survey doesn't take very long, especially if you do it online. There are questions about things like transport, shopping and council services. Just think, for five minutes effort, you could win a hamper worth £50!'

People who complete the survey will also be encouraged to join the council's ongoing consultation panel. The panel will help shape the future development of plans and services in the South Hams.
