IVYBRIDGE community group PL:21 is looking for the wider community to get involved in the 'exciting projects' that are currently under development. The group has now got permission from the Ivybridge Youth Venue to turn the grassed area around the building into an organic community garden. A spokeswoman for PL:21 said: 'It is hoped that local groups such as the guides and scouts, the Dove Project, Gardening Club and many others will get involved, with healthy eating cookery demonstrations on the agenda, once the garden is productive.' The group will then need to raise almost £2,000 to buy a fence for the area, ground protectors, turf, top soil and recycled oil drums to use for planters. The spokeswoman added: 'We have already had a helping hand from Ivybridge Town Council and South West Water and an offer of help with paint. We are hopeful that our district councillors and county councillor might be able to support the project, once they understand how it will benefit the community. 'To make this garden a reality and for it to be sustainable PL:21 really needs local people to get involved.'
