The 49th annual Kingsbridge Fair Week starts this weekend, and promises a jam-packed, week-long programme of fun for the whole family, with live music throughout.

The week will kickoff on Saturday, July 21 with the local farmers market and the much-loved lantern workshop in the Quay House carpark tomorrow and Sunday, where families can make their lanterns for the lantern parade on Wednesday. The Crowning Ceremony will take place on the Bandstand at 5pm.

There will be junior crab catching at the Crabshell Inn, and of course, a firework display to mark the start of a busy week.

Throughout the week, activities include the ever-popular bingo night, attracting players from across the South Hams, and the “real” crazy quiz in the Town Square for teams of up to ten people. The usual mix of competitions can be found in the programme, so pick one up and join your favourites.

For the more energetic, five-a-side football will take place at the Rugby Club, there will be a zumba demonstration at Harbour House, a free taster yoga class put on by Simply Soulful Yoga in the park adjacent to Cafe Decks, and the Kingsbridge 10k and Fun Run.

Don’t forget about the Traditional Glove Hanging Ceremony on Wednesday at 7pm to celebrate the town’s historic Charter as read by the mayor!

Bands and other entertainment acts throughout the week include: local solo performers Sam Gray and 16-year-old Isaac Flynn; the fantastic party band, The Filthy Gorgeous; the magician, Emazdad; Silvington, a traditional and contemporary band with both members playing in Folk on the Moor near Ivybridge; Malavita! who claim, “We do the music, you do the moves!”; Capulus, an up-and-coming hard rock band; and covers band Code Red and soul-funky Dr Oz to cap it off.

All of this and much, much more is to be expected for Kingsbridge Fair Week 2018!

For all sponsors, competitions, activities, and events, the Fair Week Programme is available for purchase from the Kingsbridge Information Centre, Martin McColl on Fore St and the Quay, the Co-op on Ilbert Rd, Tesco, and Ashby’s Easy Stores.
