A YOUNG boy was hit by a dog that fell from a block of flats in Salcombe.

The 10-year-old was standing outside the post office in Fore Street at 2.45pm on Sunday when a Labrador fell from the skylight of a holiday letting.

The dog landed on the boy's neck, causing bruising. He was taken to Derriford Hospital overnight after being attended by First Responders.

Both the boy and dog are now well.

Tim Hore, landlord of the Victoria Inn and a First Responder who helped the boy, said: 'The child was very calm despite his ordeal.

'To my knowledge he didn't suffer too many injuries.

'I'm glad he's now okay. It's not the sort of thing you'd ever expect to happen.'
