At the risk of upsetting the Kingsbridge Action Group, I would like to point out that the old Quay pub continues to look awful and needs a solid, profitable company to use the site to generate much-needed income and employment in the town.
Of all the fast-food outlets, Subway probably offers the most healthy range of options: good-quality, fresh food with a choice of salads as an integral part of the menu.
I’m sure a survey given to the younger generation townsfolk would show a positive response to a Subway outlet in Kings-bridge. The town needs to evolve in order to survive. It needs to adopt a policy of change, growth and development. We already have multiple chains, such as Peacocks, WHSmith, McColls. They are well frequented and are good for the town.
There are many empty business premises in and around Fore Street and, aside from charity shops, the town may well be heading for a slow decline. We should be welcoming outside investment with open arms.
Look what you all thought would happen when Tesco applied for planning permission to build a store here.
You all need to be more positive about our changing businesses and adopt a more flexible, proactive approach. Fresh blood is what Kingsbridge needs in order to prosper.
