M Hartle, of Town Close, Dartmouth, writes: I was disappointed to read the letters making mock of the Business Improvement District team's efforts to reduce the seagull population. At least it is trying to do something, unlike our ineffective town council, which does nothing to solve the problem. Just look at the disgusting state of some of our buildings, such as the hospital. We have to pay for them to be cleaned or redecorated out of our taxes. Last week by the bandstand two tables were occupied by people eating and three tables had seagulls stood on them – how hygienic and welcoming for visitors.
