A primary is celebrating maintaining its ’good’ rating after a recent inspection by Ofsted.

Stowford School in Ivybridge earned the rating at a short inspection carried out in June, with the report published this month.

It followed a full inspection in May 2014 where the primary was also judged to be good.

Inspectors recognised the school as “a vibrant place of learning” which encouraged “academic standards that are typically above the national average, alongside pupils’ good personal development". Their report also commented on the rich and vibrant curriculum, the welcoming ethos and the strong development of the children’s deduction and discussion skills.

Headteacher Sue Williams said: "It is very rewarding to have the hard work of the staff, children and govenors recognised by Ofsted, and we will carry on developing our school so it will go from strength to strength."
