More than 120 Rainbows, Brownies and Guides, aged between five and 18, celebrated their Guiding Thinking Day at Kingsbridge Community College.

The girls spent the day learning basic life support including the recovery position and CPR, fun science experiments with the help of Dr Jackson and going in the Space Dome a mobile planetarium with Simon from Space Odyssey.

Sarah Stephens, Kingsbridge district commissioner, said: “This was a very positive day and the girls had great fun, as well as our Guiding Thinking Day, it’s also around the time of International Women’s Day.

“At the end of the day some leaders were presented with their five, 10 and 20 years awards for volunteering with the Rainbows, Brownies and Guides, which is a wonderful achievement. Kate Jackson of 1st Stokenham Guides received her 20-year award.”

Kingsbridge and District Rainbows, Brownies and Guides, are looking for more volunteers. From September they will need leaders to run a Stokenham Rainbow pack in Chillington and a helper for Stokenham Guides, also based in Chillington.

Rainbows are for girls aged 5-7 year olds and Guides is for those aged 10+. If you would like to get involved, contact Sarah by email: [email protected]
