EAST Allington Primary School pupil Amelia Logan came away with second place at Devon County Show on Saturday.

Amelia, 10, rode her Welsh Section A pony ‘Solly’ in the Mountain and Moorland First Ridden class and came in second out of 17 entrants.

Amelia’s mum Dena called it her ‘proudest mummy moment’ as Amelia has brought Solly on by herself from a lead rein pony in just three years.

‘It goes to show that you don’t need to spend thousands on a produced pony, you just need to find the right one and work hard’, said Dena, who added that she was ‘so proud’ of Amelia for everything she had done with him.

‘He’s now jumping, she took him to his first one-day event recently, she’s done it all herself’, she continued.

Amelia has lessons with Alex Farleigh at Dittiscombe Equestrian Centre every week and she and her mum ride out regularly. Amelia was helped out on show day by her older brother Tom who drove down from Preston to help her as Dena is currently dealing with a broken leg and hip.
