A charitable organisation is running a drawing competition to help those in need over Christmas.

Dartmouth Community Chest is running the competition to raise money for it’s Christmas appeal through the selling of donation cards.

Each card, designed by local children, will cost £5 and this will pay for someone to spend Christmas Day with Dartmouth Community Chest or pay for a toy parcel to be delivered to a local family struggling with the cost of Christmas.

The competition to design a Christmas donation card on an A5 landscape piece of paper is for children of all ages, from 0 to 16. Children from Dartmouth and the surrounding villages are all welcome to enter.

Working with the local schools and community groups, Dartmouth Community Chest is using the competition to find 12 covers for the donation cards.

All twelve winners will receive some lovely prizes and the charitable group has said if anyone would like to donate another one they would be very grateful.

Every year these cards are sent across the UK to many countries around the world showing the community spirit in the town and this year will also demonstrate the wealth of talent among the young people in the area.

Entries can be handed into school or at the Flavel Church from 11am to 3pm on Tuesdays and must all be in by October 31.

On the back of the artworks should be the name, age and a contact number of the entrant, but the writing on the back should not be visible through the paper.
