John Roadknight,of Buckwell Road, Kingsbridge, writes:
The outcome of this referendum has everything to do with their future prospects and opportunities to work, study and travel within the world’s largest single market on which 44 per cent of our exports depend, three million jobs and huge inward investment from companies who set up their subsidiaries here in order to access it.
The status quo may not be perfect but, as far as I am concerned, it is far more preferable than gambling their and our nation’s future.
I am afraid that we are no longer an empire and the leaders of our 27 neighbours will not assemble obediently in London on June 24, seat us at a top table and then serve us an a la carte menu to pick and choose from that will then immediately be implemented.
This referendum has everything to do with the young man I saw outside Peacocks in Kingsbridge last week, standing alone with a placard on the end of a bamboo stick supporting our continued membership.
When I stopped to talk with him he told me that he had earlier seen a Vote Leave stall outside the shop and felt he had to do something to counter their presence, as he found their arguments totally unconvincing.
