SOUTH Hams Council is urging residents to return voting registration forms as soon as possible.
The Police and Crime Commissioner election forms were sent to all households in June and SHDC stipulates they must be returned with details of occupants eligible to vote.
Although elections will not be held until November 15 the SHDC will be compiling the register of electors earlier than usual in view of the fact that 'voters need to have their say on who is appointed to oversee the police'.
Electoral administrator Elizabeth Tucker said: 'Although the qualifying date is October 15 please complete and send the form back as soon as you receive it, you can always contact us if your circumstances change.
'Alternatively you can use the phone or internet service if your details haven't changed by following the instructions on the form.
To avoid receiving a reminder or personal visit, please return your form by July 9.
'On your electoral registration form you can opt to have your details excluded from the edited register.
'This will mean your details cannot be bought by individuals and commercial organisations.'
If you have not already received your form contact the Electoral Registration Officer on 01803 861434.
