A KINGSBRIDGE resident is travelling to Nepal to teach English in a school and is asking for school supplies donations.
Linda is travelling to the Himalayan region of Nepal on November 22, on of the areas that was destroyed by the earthquake in 2015. She will be staying with a Gurkha family and working with Education and Health Nepal.
During the earthquake last year, more than 8,000 people we killed and more than 5,000 schools were destroyed. Linda is asking for donations of school supplies such as pens, pencils, notepads, maps, atlases, rubbers, sharpeners, jigsaws, games etc - anything that could be useful in a school.
‘Tesco in Kingsbridge have very kindly allowed me to put a basket by their front door’, said Linda, ‘any donation would be gratefully received.’ Linda will collect the donations on November 20.
Education and Health Nepal is a non-profit organisation that ‘harnesses the power of international volunteering’ to ‘target support for the poorest communities in Nepal’ and bring about ‘lasting change’.
