On Friday, May 9, amateur photographer Amelia Wright, 47, was shocked to see her photograph featured on the Mail Online.
Whilst walking her dog along by Dartmouth Castle whilst on holiday with her husband, David, she captured the stunning snapshot of a blanket of bluebells overlooking the 360 degree view up on Gallants Bower using her iPhone.
Amelia said: “There was no thought that went into it, no one around - we were completely by ourselves. I just thought this is a good view. The bluebells, that I didn’t even notice at first, they’re everywhere. It was a perfect spring morning.”
Later sharing it on social media, Amelia watched on as it attracted enormous attention, which she described “berserk”.
“It was the sharing that was prolific. People must really like bluebells!”, she added.
The photograph was posted to Facebook page ‘We Love Dartmouth Past Present and Future’ on Monday, May 6, which is run by local photographer John Walker. It received hundreds of likes, comments and shares with many users calling it ‘beautiful'.
Since posting, Amelia was approached by a press agency who rang her but did not inform her which newspaper would be using her image.
On Thursday, May 9, the photograph was published to the Daily Mail’s website in an article displaying other bluebell shots from around the country.
Since she first began publishing her photographs over a year ago, Amelia says that of all the places she’s been, the area of woodland she captured is the most beautiful view that she has ever seen.Amelia added that it is her love for Dartmouth that encourages her to go and take photographs, as well as to promote her holiday home, The Old Wash House. Whilst she lives in Essex, she has been visiting the South Hams since childhood.
