The Ferry Boat Inn, Dittisham has beaten 340 pubs to become a regional winner in the Pubs in Bloom competition.

The waterside pub scooped the award for their hanging baskets this year. About three months ago, Punch Taverns organised this competition taking in the whole of the South West and South Wales. Over 340 pubs were judged on their floral display and The Ferryboat Inn came first. The Exeter Inn, Modbury came second.

Father and son landlords, Barry and Simon Dafforn-Jones, said: “We’re over the moon to receive this prestigious award.

“A lot of hard work went into the planning and planting of the baskets along with the daily deadheading to make sure that the baskets always looked brilliant.”
