A couple who have lived “all over the world” returned to Dartmouth to celebrate their Diamond Wedding.

Roslyn and Malcolm Lawrence celebrated their diamond wedding with their family and guests on the Dart Explorer during Regatta on Thursday evening, August 24th.

Roslyn married Malcolm Lawrence, now a retired Royal Navy Lieutenant Commander, on August 24th 1957 at St Woolos Church in Newport Gwent, however Roslyn’s love of Dartmouth started many years prior to their wedding day.

Their daughter, Karen Sheperd said: “Roslyn fell under the spell of Dartmouth as a young girl spending her holidays with her grandparents Mr and Mrs Marshall who lived in the town all their lives.

“Despite moving all over the world, Dartmouth remained a favourite place. Indeed, 10yrs ago family and friends celebrated their Ruby Wedding in Dartmouth. This tradition has continued on for many more generations as their daughters spent Regatta week every year eventually bringing their husbands and children to Dartmouth.

“Last October the latest member of this family Olivia De La Rue was born and this year saw her fist visit to Dartmouth as she joined in the celebrations of her great grandparents’ Diamond wedding on the Dart Explorer.”

Lez Ellis, Dartmouth Town Crier, announced the celebrations from the deck of the Dart Explorer, much to the surprise of Roslyn and Malcolm.
