MR DP WILLISON, of Venn Park, Stoke Fleming, writes:
I am against the West Dart scheme because it will remove a slice of a wildlife habitat and the area is under a special area of conservation. I’m also against the scheme because it will scar the landscape, which is on the fringe of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Some of the wildlife that feed or reside in the area for the proposed West Dartmouth development at Cotton include barn owls, grey partridges, hares, noctule bats, buzzards and ravens.
The buzzards are seen nearly every day around Cotton Farm.
The proposed development of urban buildings, flats and industrial depots will be seen several miles away, from Slapton to Dittisham, because they are on top of the hill.
The neighbourhood plan failed to give a West Dart development referendum to all the Stoke Fleming parishioners, including villagers, which
is contrary to fairness and democracy.
The necessary ‘affordable’ houses could be on the Dartmouth side on the unused recreation ground next to the car park.
