PAUL LATIMER, of Ringmore Drive, Bigbury-on-Sea, writes: I am very disturbed by the recent actions of Bigbury Parish Council. There was a large attendance at the October council meeting as the vexed question of the planning application to build six houses on the car park and garden of the Royal Oak public house was being considered. This is a raw subject in the locality. It has been made plain by the site owner that the refurbishment of the Oak, including a new septic tank, is purely dependent on the successful granting of this application. The feeling at the meeting was definitely anti the development and was made worse when the clerk suggested a vote, which was firmly denied by the council chairman. The Parish Council behaved with utter contempt of the views put forward by the meeting and decided it would not oppose the plans. A good example of democracy in action.
