Dartmouth Library has returned to its full opening hours following the successful Devon-wide Library Consultation.

You can now visit the library on Mondays from 9am to 1pm, Tuesdays from 9am to 5.00pm, Wednesdays from 9am to 1pm,
Thursdays from 9am to 6pm, Fridays from 9am to 5pm and Saturdays from 9am to 1pm.

The full range of library services is available with more staff-time to assist and support visitors with everything from book-borrowing to photocopying, ‘Bounce and Rhyme’ for the very young to Secret Book Quest and Winter Quest for older children and Stitchery, Reading Groups and much more for adults.

The Friends of Dartmouth Library was revived at the end of March and now has 30 members.

The group organized the recent Kate Ellis ‘Murder Mystery’ event in the library at the end of September as one of its library fund-raisers.

It was a great success, hosted by popular crime-writer Kate Ellis who wrote the script, and attended by over 40 people, 12 of them correctly identifying the fictional ‘culprit’.

The talented local actors bringing the script to life were Steven Perrin, Sharon McGregor, Val Phillips and David Humeniuk.

The Friends are currently looking for help from people able to give a little time to the group which aims to support Dartmouth Library and its activities.

They said: “We’ve achieved a great deal in a short amount of time and will be able to donate a substantial sum of money to Dartmouth Library at the end of the year towards refurbishing the Children's’ Library.”

“We’re currently looking for a permanent treasurer and we need more help with organizing events to appeal to people of all ages, whether current library-users or children and adults new to the library.”
