The Dartmouth Town Crier has beaten seven to win the Widecombe Cup.

On Tuesday, September 12th, Dartmouth Town Crier, Lez Ellis, won the Widecombe Cup. It is an annual event run by Ken Purchase, Town Crier of Newton Abbot.

Ken retires in April 2018 as Widecombe town crier after 25 years. He has taken on additional responsibilities and will not have the time. A new Widecombe town crier has been appointed.

Ken has been running the Widecombe Cup for about 14 years. He has asked Lez to run the cup at Widecombe until the new crier finds his feet (voice). As the organiser, Lez will be ineligible to enter this competition next year.
