Dartmouth Caring raises £2,000 with their charity fashion show at the Dart Marina Hotel.
On Thursday, April 6, the team transformed the dining room at the Dart Marina into the location for Dartmouth Caring’s Charity Fashion Show.
The 92 guests who attended the event, enjoyed a complimentary glass of fizz on arrival, courtesy of Brown’s Hotel, Michael Sutton’s Cellar and St. Austell Brewery.
Nick Hindmarsh, Dartmouth Caring’s Manager and Coordinator, officially opened proceedings recording his thanks to the guests in attendance and those who generously donated prizes for the raffle.
The funds raised go towards supporting the vital work that Dartmouth Caring carries out on behalf of the local community. Nick stressed that with the approaching changes to health care in our region, Dartmouth Caring is being asked to take on more responsibilities and this in turn requires more funding.
Therefore, events which help to raise funds are of great importance, as are the opinions and suggestions of the community which the charity serves; Nick urged anyone who wishes to share their observations to get in touch with the Dartmouth Caring office.
After the introduction, the display of fashions began; the shows were provided by Sarah Hanafee from Danielli, an independent ladies boutique on Lower Street, Dartmouth and Tracie Fox the Manager of Mistral, a family owned ladies fashion store in Dartmouth.
Guests were treated to a delightful display of fashions and accessories designed to help inspire their wardrobe choices for the summer months ahead.
Sarah Hanafee from Danielli said: “We enjoyed the chance to support Dartmouth Caring, such a worthy charity for the local community. The fashion show itself is such a fun event, and we love the opportunity of showcasing our latest collections.
“Our volunteer models all looked gorgeous and we know from the audience’s feedback that a good time was had by all!”
After the models had completed their presentations, guests were provided with the opportunity to order the outfits which they had seen on the catwalk.
Both stores also generously donated prizes of vouchers, bags and scarves to the raffle, as did local businesses, Bayards Cove Inn, Dart Optical, Flowersmiths, The Royal Castle Hotel, The Dartmouth Wine Company and Dartmouth Caring.
Dee Nutt, Director of Dartmouth Caring, was “delighted by the assistance and generosity of all involved”, calling it a “fantastic day which raised approximately £2,000 for the charity”.
Many people supported the event and contributed to its success. Robert Green, of Robert Green Marketing, donated his time and talents as official photographer and Tim Aston, the Food and Beverages Manager at The Dart Marina Hotel, together with his staff provided vital infrastructure for the occasion.
She said: “Huge thanks must go to everyone who helped to make this day such a success. Without the help of all involved, those attending and those who assisted in other ways, we could not have achieved so much.
“Final thanks go to Tracie Fox and Sarah Hanafee, without whose continued contribution this event would not be possible.”
