Fire crews from Kingsbridge, Dartmouth and Buckfastleigh attended a garage fire at Saffron Park in Kingsbridge on Saturday 19.

The garage was directly below a house and the crews put it out using two hose reel jets, one safety jet, four breathing apparatus, one short extension ladder, and one thermal imaging camera.

The garage was totally destroyed by the fire but the rest of the property remained undamaged.

Writing on the Kingsbridge fire station Facebook page a spokesperson said: “On arrival it was found that the fire was in the garage. Crews isolated the electric to property and also water supply due to a melted pipe and two crew wearing breathing apparatus attacked the fire another crew also wearing breathing apparatus checked the living area of property for any fire and smoke and ventilated All persons and animals were safe.

The garage was severely damaged by fire but contained in that area due to the quick actions of people calling the emergency services.”

The cause of the fire was accidental.
