Council seeks views to move church

The Council seeks your views on a proposal to bring St Clements Church within Townstal ward.

Town Clerk, Tracey Rowe said: “Dartmouth Town Council would like to hear your views on a proposal to request a change to the boundary between Townstal and Clifton Parish electoral wards.

“This change would mean that the church of St Clements at Townstal will be within the Townstal ward.

“The church is mentioned as ‘the parish church of St. Clement, Townstal’ in church records as early as 1200 A.D. and in fact there was a church on the site before Dartmouth itself existed.

“This change would mean that the roads surrounding St Clements Church would move into the Townstal electoral ward, including Churchfields, Townstal Pathfields, and Broad Park.
