Peter Grimes, of Ashley Heath, Market Drayton, writes:
Could the potential loss of Dartmouth's Harbour Bookshop provide an opportunity for holiday home owners, like ourselves, to contribute something tangible and visible to the town?
Perhaps it is a chance to show that we are both aware and sensitive to local issues and break down some of the stereotyping.
Like many others, we sponsor a child in the third world‚ and that type of scheme seems tailor made to help to save the bookshop – £10 per month from a 100 second home owners is £250 a week which would go quite a way towards paying the rent and making a community-run bookshop viable.
It could also provide an opportunity for locals and outsiders to get to know each other better.
