THE Royal British Legion Mill Club in Kingsbridge held a D-Day commemoration on Saturday, June 7. John Peacock, Kingsbridge branch chairman, said: 'With free entry, an evening buffet and music from Becky Brine, who sang both original Second World War songs as well as some more modern songs. 'Many people came in uniforms from the three services, which all made the evening very successful. 'Legion members had decked the walls with flags and bunting and a grand 'fall' of balloons from the ceiling made the commemoration complete. The buffet prepared and served by Mill Club ladies dressed as 'Land Army' girls, was enjoyed by all.' The decoration will be kept up until after a poppy appeal evening with the popular 60's rock band 'The Wendella's' on Friday, June 20.
