TOM SHELL, of Alvington Terrace, Kingsbridge, writes: Readers are probably unaware that another planning application has been submitted for the contentious K5 site alongside West Alvington Hill. As at the time of writing this letter, no notices of this application have been erected in the affected areas, surely a mandatory requirement. People may also remember that the previous application was turned down by Kingsbridge Town Council and South Hams Council. The applicant appealed and this appeal was heard last year by the government planning inspector, who dismissed the appeal, mainly on the grounds of severe damage to this superb Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This new application is slightly smaller, but very similar to the previous one, and will have the same effect on the AONB. It will also raise the other problems of which readers will be only too aware. There were something like 90 letters or emails of objection last time, but they will not be considered for this new application. I would therefore implore those who objected last time and all others who wish to preserve this beautiful part on Kingsbridge to object again. Despite this application not being brought in time to the attention of Kingsbridge residents, we have only until April 7 to register our objections. The reference of this new application is 28/0508/15 and it can be accessed on the South Hams website or by writing to the planning department at South Hams. Act now before it is too late.
