Churchstow Church Fete saw more than £2,200 raised in the grounds of Whitehall Manor.
John Woodley, fete organiser, said he was “delighted” to be back at Whitehall Manor for the church fete on Saturday, August 12. He said that stalls were “laden with produce”, there were “delicious teas” on offer and the “raffle table was full”.
“Children’s games, as always, were very popular, croquet especially, and there were other games for the smaller kids too. We raised £2,203 for church funds so it was very successful.
“Thanks to the homeowners at Whitehall Manor, everyone who provided cakes, prizes and goods and everyone who attended.”
The Revd Daniel Hartley, rector of the Aune Valley Benefice and Mission Community, said: “On Saturday, August 12, we had our annual Churchstow Church Fete. This year we managed to hold it outdoors and a big thank you to Whitehall Manor for hosting us.
“Thanks to the huge efforts of all our volunteers, and the generosity of all who attended, we managed to raise over £2,200. It was a real community event and we are are so pleased that so many people were able to come.”
George Seager Berry added: “Whitehall again provided ample space for some games of skill. Daphne Langman supervised her traditional game of trying to throw loo rolls into a, thankfully disconnected, loo.
“There was also a chance to try to throw tennis balls into an inclined bucket from which thy kept bouncing out and to hit tennis balls with a croquet mallet through a croquet hoop.”
