Referring to an article in this paper about ideas for the council to save money.

On reading the article in the Kingsbridge Gazette, I must say the most obvious one that could go a long way to saving money is charging visitors for using our public transport.

Devon and Cornwall are very popular area for holiday makers and there are many, many 'bus pass' holders who travel the whole of the UK and manage not to pay a penny towards their costs.

I have read items in newspapers where they boast about it, usually in the 'letters' column.

My husband and myself travelled to Norwich one year by car, but as our friends lived on the outskirts of the town we elected to use the local buses to go shopping etc.

We were warned that we would have to pay half price. There are other areas of this island that also charge something for visitors to travel on their buses.

What a good idea, make all visitors pay half price.

I suppose that will mean someone will have to work a bit harder, although computers are supposed to make life easier.

Why should the residents of Devon and Cornwall pay the cost for visitors to have free holidays?
