L Sims, of Beadon Road, Salcombe, writes: Why should we lose the dog-friendly Cottage Hotel? My family has lived here for 11 years and visited regularly the family-run Cottage Hotel in Hope Cove with our friends and guests. Kingsbridge Probus, Salcombe Flower Club and other organisations have also used the venue regularly for their functions. We understand that the ­owners of the hotel wish to modernise and improve ­outdated facilities and extend the current building. A planning application submitted by them is apparently being objected to by various people, including a number of non-locals. Don't these people realise that in order to survive a hotel must offer the proper facilities? Should these objections ­succeed then it is conceivable that the Cottage would be lost to us all. It could close because it is no longer viable, end up derelict and remain so until such time as an "enterprising developer" steps in and builds yet more unwanted holiday homes. Please lend your support to the application and prevent this lovely business from ­disappearing.
