THE South Brent Carnival Royalty have been chosen for 2012.
This year's carnival royalty were chosen during the children's disco event held at the Old School Community Centre, in the parish on Friday, February 17.
The evening was a great success, and the carnival committee were delighted by the amount of children and parents who came along to support the carnival royalty event.
The committee would like to thank the three judges from Kingsteignton and Brent Knoll.
They had the very difficult task of choosing just six young ladies from the 13 who entered for royalty roles.
The 2012 float, whose theme remains a closely guarded secret, will represent the village attending over 20 carnivals throughout the year.
The girls will participate in the South and East Devon circuits between June and December, hoping to win a similar number of trophies to that of recent years.
This year's lucky winners were Hannah Roberts-Cossey, 14, who is named Carnival Queen. Lady-in-waiting is Kerri Dardis, 15, and the Attendants are Milly Bannister, 13, Jade Hannaford, 13, Shannon Camp, 11, and Levi Dow, 13.
All the girls attend Schools in South Brent, Totnes, Ivybridge, and Ashburton.
The reign of the new royalty starts with the crowning ceremony on Street Fair Day, which this year will be held on Saturday, June 23.
This event launches the 2012 carnival Week, which will be from June 23 to Sunday, July 1, with this year's float making its debut at the carnival parade on Saturday, June 30.
