Batman will soon be seen crusading 26.2 miles around London in a bid to raise money for Team Leo.
Michael Bonning will dress up as the caped crusader in the 2015 Virgin Money London Marathon on Sunday.
The Ivybridge resident is aiming to raise £1,000 towards Team Leo's campaign to raise £20,000 for Muscular Dystrophy UK.
Michael said: 'I am delighted to be running this amazing race for such a good cause.
'I have a friend called Leo, he is nine-year-old and he was an energetic, active little boy.
'But he has muscular dystrophy and, as the symptoms develop with age, he is becoming increasingly disabled as his muscles degenerate.
'He is now in a wheelchair and it may not be long before his muscles, including the ones that keep him alive, such as his heart, stop working.'
Leo Le Gal, from Ivybridge, suffers from Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
Since he was diagnosed his family have launched their own charitable organisation – Team Leo – to help children with Duchenne muscular dystrophy get life-saving drugs.
It can be very difficult for children with Muscular Dystrophy to get access to the medicines they need, and Team Leo raises funds to make new medicines available to children in desperate need.
Leo's mum and founder of Team Leo, Ruth Le Gal, said: 'Our son Leo is just 9-years-old but over the last 20 months he has had to make 10 trips to the USA to receive Trans-larna, a potentially life saving drug that the NHS is currently refusing to fund.'
One of Team Leo's key goals is to raise £20,000 for Muscular Dystrophy UK's Fast Forward Campaign which is fighting to speed up access to new medicines like Trans-larna for children with Muscular Dystrophy.
Ruth added: 'No child should have to travel thousands of miles for a life saving medication, and everyone involved in this campaign is working hard to make sure these medicines are made available on the NHS for all children who need them.'
