Martin Ranwell, of Tuckers Brook, Modbury, writes: I refer to the article by Toby Leigh in last week's Gazette, and in particular the quotes from Cllr Julian Brazil, which are wholeheartedly supported. This is not 'Our plan'. It is 'Their Plan', being a top-down exercise based on very dubious local authority-sponsored forecasts of population growth, and totally devoid of any consideration of infrastructure development, employment opportunities and geographic need. Until such time as a proper bottom-up housing needs survey is carried out in the South Hams, we should all say a loud and clear 'no' to all future development proposals, however long term in nature, even at the conceptual stage now being promoted by the district council against a ridiculously short timetable. The future of our green and pleasant land is at stake and under threat.
